Domestic & Family Violence

“If someone who has been suffering from domestic and family violence is going to be able to make a permanent separation, they will need ongoing and consistent support”

SafeT – Staying Home Leaving Violence (SHLV) provides ongoing and consistent support. SafeT – SHLV is a specialised domestic and family violence program for women 18 + with or without children who have separated from a violent partner and/or family member and who choose to remain in their home or another home of their choice in the LGAs of Ryde, Hunters Hill and Hornsby.

SafeT – SHLV works with you to support you and your child/ren to secure safe, sustainable and affordable housing and rebuild your lives, and break the cycle of returning to violence.

“I want to express my gratitude even though words will not be enough. For years I lived with my child in fear and tension of what awaits us when we get home. Getting a Northern Centre case worker my life changed significantly for the better. With their support and guidance I feel strong and capable of amazing things.”

“The RHHDFSVC host the Make a Stand event every year on the fourth Wednesday of every November and part of the international 16 days of activism”

The Ryde Hunters Hill Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Committee (RHHDFSVC) is an interagency group that aims to address domestic, family, and sexual violence issues at a local community level by working collaboratively in the Ryde and Hunters Hill Local Government areas.

Make A Stand is a walk held in Macquarie Park to raise awareness, advocate for improved services, and to acknowledge those who have lost their lives to domestic, family, and sexual violence.

Please support the Ryde Hunters Hill Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Committee to help advocate for improved services for an increasing number of individuals and families in our community experiencing domestic, family and sexual violence.

Join the Ryde Hunters Hill Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Committee in a workshop facilitated by Dave Kramer

If you encountered signs of coercive control in any conversation, how would you respond calmly, directly, and without escalating danger?

How would you help a person recognise what’s happening, assess their immediate safety, and support their choices?

Dave is driven by the legacy of his best friend, Hannah Clarke, and her three young children who were tragically murdered by their father, her partner on 19.02.2020. In their honour, Dave has dedicated his career to fostering empathy, courage, and meaningful connection within communities to help understand the often significant, subtle and silent form of domestic and family violence which is coercive control.

Through honest and thought-provoking conversations, Dave moves beyond awareness and into action — equipping individuals, workplaces, and communities with the tools to recognise harmful behaviours, challenge harmful attitudes, and contribute to a culture where everyone can thrive.

Dave brings powerful insight into coercive control, helping us understand its warning signs, its impacts, and the critical role we all play in the prevention of violence before it escalates.
